## Optimized hero derivatives — 26 October 2026

Derived from the existing credited NASA visualization, without audio, with H.264/yuv420p and MP4 faststart. Both retain the first 18 seconds at 24 fps.

- Desktop: `black-hole-desktop.mp4`, 1920 px wide, 4,101,578 bytes.
- Mobile: `black-hole-mobile.mp4`, 854 px wide, 703,550 bytes.
- Original: `black-hole-orbit.mp4`, 19,001,643 bytes, retained as the source asset.

The hero chooses the derivative before setting a video source; reduced motion and data saver continue to defer loading until explicit play. These file sizes are not measured first-view network transfer or Core Web Vitals results.
